What We Did — James Hardie Siding Installation & Weather Barrier Application

This project began with a complete removal of the existing siding, exposing the exterior walls for a thorough inspection before any new material was applied. Our team installed DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap across the entire surface of the home, creating a continuous weather-resistant barrier that blocks moisture infiltration while allowing the walls to breathe and release trapped vapor. Every seam was carefully overlapped and taped to eliminate any gaps where air or moisture could penetrate. With the weather barrier fully secured, we proceeded with installing the new James Hardie siding panels, working methodically from bottom to top across both stories of the home. All trim, corners, and window surrounds were carefully fitted and sealed to ensure a clean, finished appearance at every transition point.

For the finished exterior, we installed James Hardie horizontal lap siding in a warm beige tone, creating a clean, modern look that complements the home’s existing brick foundation. This fiber cement siding is engineered to withstand the harshest weather conditions, including the freeze-thaw cycles, heavy rain, and temperature swings that are common throughout Western Pennsylvania. Unlike traditional vinyl siding, fiber cement is resistant to impact, rot, insects, and fire, making it one of the most durable exterior cladding options available. The material holds paint exceptionally well and maintains its color and finish far longer than standard alternatives, significantly reducing long-term maintenance requirements. New seamless gutters were also installed along the roofline to complete the exterior and ensure proper water drainage away from the foundation, adding an additional layer of protection for the home.
