What We Did — Roof Tear-Off, Deck Inspection & Underlayment Installation
This project began with a complete tear-off of the existing roofing system, exposing the roof deck for a thorough inspection. Our team carefully assessed the decking for any soft spots, rot, or structural concerns before proceeding. Once the deck was confirmed sound, we installed a high-performance underlayment across the entire roof surface, using color-coded fastener caps to verify consistent nail placement and proper coverage at every section. Ice-and-water shield was applied along all valleys and eaves to guard against Pennsylvania’s freeze-thaw cycles and ice damming.
The Result — IKO Architectural Shingles Installed for Lasting Protection
For the finished layer, we installed IKO architectural dimensional shingles in a charcoal/slate tone — a durable, attractive choice well-suited to the Western PA climate. Architectural shingles provide significantly better wind resistance and a longer lifespan than standard 3-tab shingles, typically carrying warranties of 30 years or more. The ridge was finished with a vented ridge cap, promoting proper attic airflow and reducing heat and moisture buildup year-round. The completed roof gives this home a clean, uniform appearance while providing the structural protection the homeowner can count on through harsh winters, heavy rain, and everything in between.
